December 7, 2021 – AutoNation Inc. (NYSE: AN), America’s largest and most admired auto retailer, has donated $ 1 million to the Memorial Cancer Institute (MCI) “Growing stronger together” fundraising campaign. The donation will name the Fort Lauderdale-based company’s first-floor lobby in a self-contained, comprehensive cancer center to be built on the Memorial Hospital West campus in Pembroke Pines.
The contribution is a premier gift to MCI, one of five Florida facilities designated a “Center of Excellence for Cancer” by the state legislature. Her new home, slated for completion in spring 2023, will include more than 120,000 square feet of outpatient treatment and support services for patients and families.

The “Growing Stronger Together” campaign, supervised by the association Commemorative foundation, raising funds for four areas that will impact the growth and development of the MCI program: oncology infrastructure, research, education and support services.

Memorial Health System (www.mhs.net) expects to begin construction on the new cancer center this month. When completed, the four-story structure will house the radiation oncology, breast center, hematology-oncology clinic, Moffitt’s Malignant Hematology and Cell Therapy Clinic, and an infusion clinic. It will also include an image retrieval area, a conference center, doctors’ offices, private suites, a rooftop garden and a meditation room. The building was designed to meet the needs of patients and their caregivers and incorporates feedback received from current and former patients, physicians and MCI staff.
The Memorial Cancer Institute is the 5th largest cancer center in Florida, treating nearly 5,200 new patients last year.
