The emergency department at the new McLaren Greater Lansing healthcare campus will include a EMS garage for easier access to the hospital for EMS workers, specially designed trauma rooms and elevators, an observation unit for patients who need close monitoring, specially designed mental health rooms with features to ensure patient and staff safety, and dedicated CT, X-ray and ultrasound and vascular imaging directly to the emergency department with all private rooms.

The service will include additional patient rooms and a vertical express unit for faster treatment of patients who need to be seen by a healthcare professional and then returned home to recover.

“Our vertical express unit will be a great benefit for the community to access emergency services while moving through the department quickly,” said Dr Perry. “We will have all new equipment, expand our services and continue to recruit a wider range of coverage so that we are better able to meet the needs of the community so that no one has to travel to obtain the specialized care that we need. he needs. “

In addition to the emergency department, McLaren Greater Lansing will include a practical care dedicated to oncology for patients on cancer treatment when it opens in March 2022.

“Convenient oncology care was designed to be comfortable and convenient for our patients,” said Nick Erikson, regional director of cancer services at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. “Our experienced staff will be able to resolve issues such as dehydration, nausea, vomiting or pain, thereby meeting the needs of oncology patients.”
